Welcome Week 2026

Welcome Week came in all shapes and sizes. Some events brought hundreds of people together, while others were small, intimate gatherings of just a handful of participants.

In one home in Oslo, ten girls gathered to make dumplings together. Across town, around 300 people came together to meet local clubs and organizations and discover new ways to get involved.

In Tromsø, international residents got a behind-the-scenes look at NRK's offices. In Bergen, a mother and daughter attended their first-ever football match at Brann Stadion, despite living less than ten minutes away. They enjoyed it so much that they're already planning to return as a family.

Some organizers created something entirely new for Welcome Week. Others simply invited people to join activities they were already running. Whether it was a small gathering around someone's kitchen table or a large community event, each offered a different way to meet people and participate.

Across the country, the programme included everything from sports and outdoor activities to book clubs, creative workshops, cultural experiences and professional networking. Local clubs and community groups welcomed new faces, while larger organizations opened their doors to experiences people might not otherwise have had.
